“Social Development” supports the Home Grown’s projects in the Ramadan Market
The Ministry of Social Development and the Family, represented by the Family Empowerment Department, concluded the Ramadan Market for Home Grown’s Projects, which continued until March 23 in Souq Waqif behind the women’s prayer hall.
This participation comes with the aim of promoting the products of national projects (Home-Grown) through participation in various activities held by the state, to empower them economically, support them in developing their capabilities and talents, provide marketing opportunities for their products, encourage local production in Qatari society, enhance women’s economic role and contribution, and diversify the production base.
(16) national production projects participated in the Ramadan Market, and the local products varied: fashion design created by Qatari female designers, gifts and antiques, handicrafts, food spices, various foods and hot and cold drinks, perfume and incense projects, and body care products.
Mrs. Amal Al Yafei, Executive Director of Yafi Academy, presented several workshops for the target audience of children during three consecutive days on March 11-13. During these workshops, children decorated Garangao bags with accessories.
Regarding the creativity of Home Grown’s owners, Mrs. Fatima Al-Mansouri, owner of the Ectoor_2021 project, said: “First of all, I would like to introduce myself. I am an academic who loves heritage. I started my project with an idea that revolves around how to preserve the cultural heritage, and how to transfer Gulf vocabulary to the current generation. This vocabulary began to despair while using foreign dialects. Hence, launched my project three years ago."
She continued, “I designed a doll and named it Kardiya. When designing this doll, I took care to follow the Qatari folk dress, and it was admired by buyers.”
“The project’s mission is to serve as an incubator for games that seek to preserve cultural heritage and national identity. It is a contribution from me to my community and is also supportive of Qatar Vision (2030). I aspire for this project to become global, and to have its own imprint to benefit society in general and future generations in particular,” Mrs. Al-Mansouri highlighted.
Mrs. Fatima Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Family Empowerment Department at the Ministry, said: “The Family Empowerment Department at the Ministry always seeks to support the Qatar National Vision (2030) by providing a sustainable environment for owners of Home Grown’s projects. It also encourages development projects directed at empowering individuals and families economically and to provide guidance, guidance, technical consultations and the necessary support to achieve stability for owners of national productive projects in the State of Qatar.”
