About the ministry

The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) was established in the State of Qatar in 2021 as the government entity responsible for developing and implementing policies and strategic plans that promote family cohesion and comprehensive social development, with the aim of advancing social protection and empowering all segments of society.

The Ministry develops and implements policies and programmes that strengthen family stability, deliver social security, care, and protection services, empower persons with disabilities and promote their inclusion in society, and formulate and implement policies related to citizens' housing. It is also responsible for regulating private associations and institutions and overseeing the charitable sector, thereby contributing to improve quality of life and sustainable development.

In 2025, the Ministry launched its National Social Development Strategy (2025–2030) under the slogan "From Care to Empowerment." The Strategy reflects a strategic shift in the Ministry's approach to social development, placing empowerment at the core of its efforts by enabling individuals and families and enhancing their active participation in society, in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and supports the achievement of sustainable social development.
