Social Development Instilling Moral Values in Children through
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Family Development Department, collaborated with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to participate in the International Day of Education. The event, held on Thursday, January 20th at Hafsa Preparatory School for Girls, aimed to disseminate essential behavioral and educational values within the community.
The Ministry's participation focused on strengthening family cohesion and cultivating moral values among female students. This was achieved through an engaging awareness activity featuring a modified version of the classic game, "Snakes and Ladders." This adapted game incorporates educational and social skills, encouraging children to participate in meaningful gameplay. Carefully selected pictures and phrases within the game promote positive behaviors and enhance interactions among the target group.
Ms. Noura Al-Muftah, Family Studies Researcher at the Ministry, expressed her enthusiasm for this impactful activity. She emphasized its contribution to fostering values and building strong communication bridges between female students and their parents. Witnessing the positive response from the participants underscored the importance of such initiatives in driving meaningful change and raising awareness. Ms. Al-Muftah expressed her commitment to supporting future events and continuing collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The modified "Snakes and Ladders" game emphasizes positive values such as prayer, healthy eating, family warmth, academic excellence, sportsmanship, helping others, and the importance of reading. Conversely, it also highlights negative behaviors like excessive electronic device use, introversion, aggression, property damage, disrespect towards parents, and bullying. Through interactive questions, the game stimulates discussions among students, enabling them to express their opinions on right and wrong behaviors and the moral values that define a responsible individual.
This modified game offers multiple benefits, including developing critical thinking and communication skills. It enhances students' understanding of moral values and behaviors, encouraging active participation and opinion-sharing with their parents. This fosters deeper parent-child understanding and strengthens family bonds.
The Family Development Department is dedicated to developing children, adolescents, and youth through culturally, educationally, and recreationally enriching programs and projects. This involves close collaboration with relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations. The Ministry of Social Development and Family plays a crucial role in promoting family stability and social cohesion. By implementing strategic plans and programs to strengthen family protection and cohesion, the Ministry actively contributes to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and sustainable development, recognizing the family's pivotal role in societal stability and progress.
