Autism Society Launches Early Intervention Program for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
The Qatar Autism Society launched Thursday the Early Intervention Program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, with the presence of HE Minister of Social Development and Family Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi along with several officials, representatives of partner and supporting institutions, and families of children affiliated with the society.
The event took place at the Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena at Al Sadd Sports Club.
This program is a pioneering initiative aimed at providing specialized services tailored to the individual needs of children with autism spectrum disorder. It contributes to enhancing their motor, cognitive, and behavioral abilities while also reflecting the state's commitment to comprehensive care and social integration for this group.
The program targets children between the ages of 3 and 14 by offering a comprehensive training and therapeutic environment that includes individualized sessions across four main areas: behavior modification, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and special education.
The Qatar Autism Society oversees the administrative and technical aspects of the program, including the provision of qualified staff, equipped facilities, and essential training materials.
In its initial phase, the program, supported by multiple organizations, is set to accommodate 120 children, with Qatari nationals making up approximately 40% of the participants, and future expansion will be considered based on capacity.
