Minister of Social Development and Family inaugurates Watad Clinic for Marriage and Family Therapy/Consultation
Minister of Social Development and Family H E Mariam Bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad has inaugurated Watad Clinic for Marriage and Family Therapy/Consultation in Legtaifiya.
The clinic was launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) and Family Consulting Center (Wifaq).
Supreme Judicial Council judges, senior MSDF officials, and guests attended the opening ceremony.
The launch is an advanced step in the Ministry's and the Wifaq Center's efforts to provide comprehensive and free counseling to families and couples facing challenges that may affect their marital and family lives.
The clinic also provides specialized consultations that maintain confidentiality and privacy and provides its services through qualified personnel to deal with psychological, social, and educational issues.
It aims to enhance understanding between family members, reduce divorce rates, and address its effects on children, in addition to providing a supportive environment for stable family relationships.
Executive Director of Wifaq Center Eng. Jabr Rashid Al Nuaimi stressed the importance of launching the Clinic as a response to the growing needs of the community to obtain reliable professional support in the fields of family, marital, and educational counseling, and to ensure the provision of a safe environment that allows families to communicate with a group of specialized consultants.
He added: “We believe that the success of a family depends on its ability to communicate and understand, and through the Watad Clinic, we seek to provide a safe platform for families to communicate with a group of specialists in this field. This service is not just consultations, but rather a step towards building strong family relationships that enhance social cohesion and preserve the family entity.”
Director of the Social Security Department and member of Watad team Nasser Abdullah Mohammed Al Hajri said: “The launch of the clinic is an important step towards enhancing family stability in our society. It aims to support families, individuals, and couples who face challenges that affect the stability of their lives, through a qualified team of experts and specialists in the fields of psychiatry, family counseling, and social services. We seek to provide specialized and comprehensive solutions.”
He noted that the consultations provided by Watad clinic are not limited to couples only, but include all family members, as it helps them overcome crises and enhance understanding between them.
“Watad platform received about 1,590 consultations during the first nine months of this year, according to statistics. Marital counseling was at the top of the list of requests, with 950 consultations, followed by psychological and social counseling,” said Al Hajri.
He said that these figures reflect the significant role played by Watad in society as a supporter of families in overcoming the challenges of marital and family life.
Administrative Supervisor at Watad Clinic Sabika Al Nasr, said: “The service targets families and couples who face challenges in their lives. We work to help them in friendly ways through specialists in family, psychological, legal, and educational counseling. We adopt a professional approach that ensures complete confidentiality and privacy of information, which contributes to providing optimal and appropriate support for cases that face difficulties in their marital or family life.”
The launch of Watad Clinic for Marriage and Family Therapy/Consultation reflects the Ministry of Social Development and Family’s commitment to providing practical and specialized solutions to enhance family and community stability, through this free service that provides professional support to families and couples.
This step comes as part of Qatar National Vision 2030, which seeks to build a strong and cohesive society that elevates the status of the family and achieves sustainable development for all its members.
