The Ministry Of Social Development and Family, in collaboration with HH center ( the international center for training) organized a specialized workshop for owners of national productive projects entitled (From Your Home to Your Market).
This workshop is part of the Ministry's ongoing initiatives to support national productive projects "From the Homeland," aiming to empower the participants of these national production projects by helping them acquire essential skills to transition from home-based work to fully structured commercial projects. The initiative aims to empower project owners by helping them acquire essential skills to transition from home-based work to a fully structured commercial project. Participants were introduced to the requirements for establishing a small business in accordance with the official regulations of the Ministry of Social Development and Family and other relevant authorities.
The workshop also focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of financial management, e-marketing, pricing, and promoting home projects. Additional topics included developing business planning skills, analyzing the local market, identifying gaps and opportunities, and inspiring participants to consider entrepreneurship as a sustainable, long-term path instead of seasonal or limited-scope work. The program further supported participants in gaining the knowledge needed to build a strong brand identity that reflects the value and uniqueness of their products.
As part of the “From Your Home to Your Market” initiative, Dr. Hessa Hamed Al-Marwani, a professional development expert at the HH Training Center, delivered a specialized workshop that focused on several key themes.
The workshop guided participants through the process of identifying a viable business idea that aligns with their skills, interests, and market needs. It also covered the essentials of planning and organization by helping them develop a simple operational plan, determine costs and pricing, and understand the basics of execution, marketing, and financial management. Participants learned how to accurately track revenues and expenses to ensure profitability and were encouraged to continue developing their products by learning from previous experiences and customer feedback. The workshop emphasized continuous improvement, sustainability, and maintaining quality as core elements for long-term business success.
Regarding the execution and marketing pillar, Dr. Hissa Hamad Al-Marwani emphasized that successful implementation relies on producing high-quality work from the outset and leveraging digital marketing tools to reach clients effectively. She noted that strong product quality opens doors in the home-business sector and reflects the owner’s professionalism and identity. Dr. Al-Marwani highlighted a remarkable success story from within the workshop, presented by one of the participants. She explained how the participant launched her home-based project from her own kitchen, starting with a simple production plan for custom cakes and desserts. Today, she proudly serves more than 500 permanent clients. The participant shared that her project has become a reliable source of income—surpassing the salary of a full-time employee—thanks to her commitment to quality, perseverance, and consistent marketing efforts.
Regarding the financial management aspect of national home-based productive projects, Dr. Hessa Hamed Al-Marwani explained:
“It is essential to understand how to calculate profits and monitor project expenses through daily documentation of all sales and purchases instead of relying on memory. Profit margins should be calculated by understanding the difference between cost and selling price, as this reflects the project’s actual profit. Entrepreneurs must also distinguish between fixed and variable expenses, since some costs recur monthly while revenues may fluctuate depending on production levels.
Professional development expert Dr. Hessa Al Marwani gave simple tips for local project owners: “Buy in bulk to save costs, reuse leftover materials creatively, and plan purchases in advance to avoid paying high prices in a rush.”
In this regard, Ms. Fatima Al Nuaimi, Director of the Family Empowerment Department at the Ministry, said: “We are pleased to collaborate with HH Global Training Center to support and empower owners of local productive projects. The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to working diligently with all partners, both governmental and private, to provide full support to national productive project owners, aiming to enhance their participation in the local economy and foster a culture of sustainability within families and society.”
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Social Development and Family is committed to supporting productive project owners through the “From the Homeland” initiative and encouraging them to achieve self-sufficiency in line with the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030. The Ministry also aims to provide permanent marketing channels for these national productive projects to ensure sustainable and dignified income, enabling their contribution to the comprehensive development of society.
