"Social Development" Obtains Website Accreditation from Mada Center
The website of the Ministry of Social Development and Family has obtained website accreditation from the "Mada" center. This is to apply the approved global standards for digital accessibility (WCAG2.1 A, AA) for people with disabilities. It also comes on the basis that the Ministry's website conforms to all international standards concerned with accessibility for the disabled. Thus, Mada Center aims to support disabled people and the elderly to access information, services, and electronic documents independently, in addition to the ease of browsing the Ministry's website.
Mr. Ahmed Khalil, Head of the Ministry's Information Systems Committee, stated: "The fact that the website of the Ministry obtained the accreditation of the (Mada) Center for Digital Access is only evidence of the Ministry's commitment to applying all international standards for digital access. It is also another piece of evidence to consolidate the meanings of digital inclusion and participation in building a technological society that guarantees the participation of all users and beneficiaries with disabilities and the elderly.” He added: "The Ministry also confirms its commitment to applying these standards in all its electronic services that are planned to be launched in the future."
For her part, Ms. Al-Jazi Al-Jabr, Acting Director of the Digital Accessibility Services Department at Mada Center, said: "Cooperation and work took place between the digital accessibility experts at the Assistive Technology Center "Mada" and the technical team of the Ministry over a period of 3 months to support the ecosystem for information technology access and communication. It worked on improving the accessibility of the disabled to all information and services provided by the Ministry with ease and complete independence.”
She also continued: "As a result of these efforts and high interest in supporting people with disabilities, the Ministry's website was approved, through holding a series of consultative sessions between the two teams and preparing evaluation and audit reports, in addition to continuous follow-up and guidance for the implementation of the approved global standards for digital access (WCAG2.1 A, AA).
