“Social Development” concludes a series of workshops for persons with disabilities

The Ministry of Social Development and Family organized a workshop on unifying efforts for people with disabilities in the presence of Her Excellency Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of Social Development and Family, and the Arab League delegation headed by Mr. Tariq Al-Nabulsi, Technical Secretariat of the Arab Social Ministerial Council, in cooperation with the Secretariat General of the League of Arab States, and also the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The workshop was opened by welcoming the participants and emphasizing the importance of this workshop and the great moral responsibility that its participants bear for the sake of empowering people with disabilities and integrating them into their communities, and the importance of the pivotal role that the State of Qatar plays in the field of supporting and caring for people with disabilities locally and internationally.

Discussions during the workshop focused on ways to promote the rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities and improve and develop their lives. Participants also presented ideas and suggestions for improving health and education services. This trend aims to make tangible progress in supporting persons with disabilities and ensuring their effective participation.

The workshop reflects a serious commitment to supporting persons with disabilities and their families and intensifying efforts to develop services. Work on inclusiveness and quality of services was also reviewed and discussed.

Reem Al-Ajami, Director of the Department of Community Welfare, stressed Qatar's keenness to achieve many achievements for persons with disabilities in education, social security, and employment. It considered that the workshop was able to outline how it could consolidate efforts among the various State bodies to raise the level of services provided to this group, which would benefit persons with disabilities at the national level. 

She stressed that the State of Qatar has ratified the agreements concerned with supporting the rights of people with special needs and the rights of people with disabilities and empowering them in society with job opportunities and social rights. She pointed out that Qatar is interested in people with disabilities in the fields of education and health.

Some entities, the Shafallah Center and the Planning and Statistics Authority, also participated in the workshop, and many experts from people with disabilities attended and participated in all the measures taken regarding them, which is necessary not only to ensure the effectiveness of these measures but also to enhance the feeling among all individuals of their importance in the community.
