Qatar Renews Commitment to Social Development During High-Level UN Event
Her Excellency Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family, participated in the high-level event titled "Rebuilding Trust and Renewing Solidarity: The State of Social Justice in the World," held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly.
At the outset of her speech, Her Excellency expressed sincere thanks to the International Labour Organization (ILO) for organizing the meeting, emphasizing Qatar's pride in participating alongside prominent international partners to discuss issues of social justice and enhance its global dimensions. Her Excellency praised the statement by the ILO Director-General, Mr. Gilbert Houngbo, who reviewed the main findings of the new World Social Justice Report. She noted that the report's release ahead of the Second World Social Development Summit reinforces its importance and supports upcoming international discussions. She affirmed that the report serves as an evidence-based analytical reference and provides a crucial tool for formulating policies that place social justice at their core, contributing to the acceleration of progress towards achieving social development goals.
In this context, Her Excellency announced the State of Qatar's readiness to host the Second World Social Development Summit in Doha from November 4 to 6, 2025. She stressed that the event reflects Qatar's commitment to fostering international dialogue on development issues and driving the implementation of the 2030 Agenda to ensure no one is left behind. She clarified that the Summit presents an opportunity to strengthen international solidarity and multilateral cooperation to address challenges related to poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion. She noted that the Doha Political Declaration will serve as a solid foundation for unifying global efforts and reinforcing commitments towards achieving social justice and sustainable development.
In concluding her address, Her Excellency Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family, reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to hosting a world summit with a tangible impact. She expressed her anticipation of welcoming heads of state and government, senior officials, UN representatives, and all concerned parties in Doha for a summit that reflects the spirit of solidarity and joint action towards a more just and inclusive future.
