Qatar Highlights Importance of Innovation and a Human-Centered Approach on Developing Social Services

HE Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) , Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al-Thani, said that innovation and a human-centered approach form a fundamental pillar in developing social services and enhancing their effectiveness, especially in light of the rapid global transformation and the complex challenges facing societies.

This statement was made during her speech at a side event on innovation and the human-centered approach to delivering social services, organized by the Government of Uzbekistan in partnership with the Government of Türkiye, UNICEF, and the World Bank, as part of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha.

Her Excellency said that successive global crises have proven that traditional approaches are no longer sufficient to deliver social services effectively, which necessitates adopting innovative solutions based on the digital transformation and a comprehensive human-centered approach, adding that such solutions ensure a rapid response to the needs of various groups, particularly women, children, persons with disabilities, and the elderly, amid limited resources and weak infrastructure in some countries.

HE the Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at MSDF added that the State of Qatar has adopted an integrated approach to strengthening social governance by coordinating efforts among institutions, defining roles and service delivery protocols, and training social sector personnel to enhance efficiency and professionalism.

She noted that the State has launched pioneering initiatives to develop social service systems through unified electronic platforms that enable beneficiaries to communicate directly with service providers and offer them comprehensive psychological, social, and advisory support.

She also highlighted that the national strategy for social development (2025–2030) focuses on empowering priority groups including women, children, persons with disabilities, and the elderly, and on providing a fair and inclusive social environment aimed at achieving integration between care and empowerment, promoting social inclusion, and reducing gaps among different groups.

In conclusion, HE Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al-Thani expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Governments of Uzbekistan and Turkiye, as well as to UNICEF and the World Bank, for organizing this important event.

She affirmed that the State of Qatar will continue its leading role in supporting international initiatives aimed at developing sustainable social welfare systems, enhancing communities' resilience in the face of future challenges, and building a more inclusive and equitable future.
