Qatar Chairs Coordination Meeting of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs in New York

State of Qatar chaired the coordination meeting of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, held at the UN headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the Conference of the States Parties (COSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which begins later Tuesday.
Chaired by HE Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, the meeting aimed to review the topics and issues on this session's agenda and strengthen coordination between Arab countries in this regard.
During the meeting, HE Minister of Social Development and Family affirmed that the State of Qatar will spare no effort to support and integrate persons with disabilities into Arab societies, whether in Qatar or in the Arab world.
Her Excellency stressed the importance of implementing the Arab convention for persons with disabilities during the years 2023-2032, as it is an essential pillar of support for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), by striving to implement the classification of disability in Raba countries, as well as promote it in various regional and international ways.
Her Excellency highlighted the planned hosting of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Qatar, respectively, for 3rd and 4th Global Disability Summit (GDS) in 2025 and 2028, and the embodiment of the importance of joint Arab solidarity, in an effort to empower persons with disabilities in the Arab world.
The 16th session of COSP's to address the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities is scheduled to discuss several topics, including enhancing the employability of persons with disabilities, reproductive health services and accessibility, in addition to the possibility of digital access for this important group.
