Qatar Assumes Leadership of Key Committee to Combat Violence Against Children
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, representing the State of Qatar, chaired the 21st session of the Committee to Combat Violence Against Children. The meeting, which was attended by representatives from member states and relevant regional and international organizations, was held virtually.
Ms. Nouf Al-Abdullah, Assistant Director of the Family Development Department, represented and chaired the Qatari delegation. Her leadership follows Qatar's assumption of the committee's presidency from the State of Palestine, to which Qatar expressed its thanks and appreciation for the trust.
In her remarks, Ms. Al-Abdullah affirmed Qatar's commitment to continuing its efforts to protect children and fight all forms of violence against them, especially given the current challenges in the Arab region, including conflicts and socioeconomic changes that directly affect children and other vulnerable groups in society.
She emphasized Qatar's vital role in supporting peace and stability through its approach of dialogue and mediation. She also highlighted the country's continued provision of humanitarian and developmental aid, ensuring its swift and efficient delivery to those in need, while strengthening regional and international cooperation under the umbrella of the United Nations and other relevant organizations.
This meeting is part of a broader effort to enhance Arab coordination in the fields of childhood and family, and to exchange successful experiences and expertise. The goal is to achieve sustainable development objectives and promote the well-being of children and families in the region.
