Qatar Affirms Family's Role in Global Solidarity at High-Level UN Event

The State of Qatar, represented by Her Excellency Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family, took part in a high-level side event in New York titled "Together for the Better: Global Solidarity Rooted in the Family." The event was held on Monday, September 22, 2025, during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, following an invitation from the Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey.

In her address, H.E. Minister Al Nuaimi extended her gratitude to the Republic of Turkey for organizing the important event, commending the efforts of H.E. Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş and the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the UN. She affirmed that empowering the family is a fundamental pillar for facing humanitarian crises and rapid economic and technological shifts. She emphasized the importance of national and international efforts in reinforcing the family's pivotal role in maintaining community stability and achieving sustainable development.

Her Excellency also reviewed Qatar’s advanced policies for family support, noting that the Qatar National Vision 2030 places the family at the core of human and social development. This vision is embodied in the National Family Strategy (2025-2030), launched by the Ministry of Social Development and Family under the theme "From Care to Empowerment." This strategy represents a significant shift in social work toward empowering families and strengthening social cohesion.

She also touched upon Qatar's ongoing efforts in this field, including Doha's hosting of the International Family Conference last October. The conference addressed global challenges affecting the family unit, such as demographic shifts, migration, and the impact of modern technology and artificial intelligence on family structure.

H.E. Al Nuaimi also announced that the State of Qatar is preparing to host the Second World Social Development Summit next November. The summit aims to enhance family-related policies, achieve social inclusion, and strengthen family cohesion on a global scale.

In closing, Her Excellency Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting the family system nationally and internationally. She emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation with regional and international institutions to achieve more cohesive societies that are characterized by the values of peace, stability, and prosperity.
