MSDF Rolls Out 'Our Ethics Start at Home' Initiative on World Children’s Day
The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) utilized the occasion of World Children’s Day to launch a key family values program at a special interactive event held at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA).
Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani, Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at the MSDF, attended the event, which was organized in collaboration with MIA and in the presence of Ms. Sheikha Al Nasr, Director of the Museum. The program also saw significant participation from the Ambassadors of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center and the Qatar Calendar House.
A highlight of the event was the official launch of the "Our Ethics Start at Home" initiative, which Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani witnessed, and which was spearheaded by the SDGs Ambassador, Layan Al Hajri.
Through its Family Development Department, the MSDF executed a series of educational and interactive workshops for children. These activities included: a drawing and coloring workshop, the "Values Board" activity, and the "Children's Rights Cube Game". The sessions successfully integrated learning with entertainment while actively strengthening the educational and ethical roles of the family, drawing wide participation from children and their parents. Educational and encouraging gifts were also distributed.
Ms. Nouf Al Abdulla, Assistant Director of the Family Development Department at the MSDF, confirmed that the Ministry’s participation is fully aligned with its strategy to promote moral principles and cement a value-based identity rooted in authentic Islamic teachings within the Qatari family structure.
"We firmly believe that engaging our children and youth in such interactive and leadership initiatives is essential for cultivating a generation defined by social awareness, civic responsibility, and the capacity to generate lasting, sustainable impact," she emphasized.
SDGs Ambassador Layan Al Hajri shared her enthusiasm for the new initiative, stating:
"This programme is born from my deep conviction that the home serves as the very first school where ethical character is shaped, and the values we practice within our families are directly reflected in our conduct within society. As the emerging generation, we carry the significant responsibility of solidifying the values upon which the future national renaissance will be constructed."
In her statement, Ms. Eman Al Obaidli, Executive Director of the Ambassadors of the Sustainable Development Goals Center, celebrated the successful partnership.
"We are extremely proud of this fruitful collaboration, which perfectly illustrates the pivotal role of youth in driving inspirational programs that reinforce the core values of Qatari society. We continue to work closely with the MSDF to deliver programs that enhance family cohesion and sustainable ethical development," she commented.
The observance concluded with the signing of the Family Ethics Charter by a number of participating families and children. Ambassador Layan Al Hajri was also honored, a gesture that underscores the commitment to empowering the nascent generation as part of Qatar’s national transformation from a culture of care to one of empowerment. This directly advances the principles of Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritizes human development, values, and national identity.
