MSDF Participates in Societies of Opportunity 2025 Conference in Singapore

The Ministry of Social Development and Family actively participated in the "Societies of Opportunity 2025" conference held in Singapore from April 29th to 30th, 2025, according to a press release. The event was organized by the Singaporean Ministry of Social and Family Development in collaboration with the Institute of Policy Studies at the National University of Singapore.

Representing Qatar at the high-level conference was Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani, the Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development and Family. Discussions during the conference centered on strategies to bolster social mobility and broaden access to opportunities within communities. The event saw significant participation from government officials, representatives of international organizations, and policymakers who convened to share their expertise and highlight leading practices in support of inclusive social development.

On the sidelines of the conference, Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani engaged in a bilateral meeting with Mr. Ng How Yue, the Permanent Secretary (Development) at Singapore’s Ministry of Social and Family Development. Their discussions focused on potential avenues for collaboration and the exchange of knowledge in the realm of family-focused policies and programs. Furthermore, they explored the activation of an existing memorandum of understanding between the two nations and considered prospects for future joint initiatives.

In another significant meeting, Sheikha Sheikha met with His Excellency Mr. Zafer Tar Daroğlu, the Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey. Their conversation addressed Turkey’s invitation for Qatar to participate in the International Family Forum. They also reviewed the collaborative framework outlined in the memorandum of understanding signed between their respective ministries and explored mutual areas of cooperation.

Concluding her engagements, Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani met with Mr. Obak Kam, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Social and Family Development in Singapore. During this meeting, she conveyed her sincere gratitude for the warm reception and the exceptional organization of the conference proceedings.
