MSDF Organizes Pottery Workshop for Seniors to Enhance Creativity and Quality of Life
The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), represented by the Community Care Department, organized a specialized pottery workshop for seniors on May 12, 2026, in collaboration with the Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan) and Ceramic Cube Studio. The event, which included 15 senior participants, aimed to enhance their creativity and quality of life within an interactive environment that blends learning with leisure.
The workshop focused on developing the creative and recreational aspects of the participants by introducing them to the basics of pottery shaping. By creating their own pieces, such as mugs and simple ornaments, seniors were able to experience a sense of accomplishment and stimulate their manual and artistic abilities. This initiative is part of a series of programs implemented by the Ministry to provide a supportive environment that integrates seniors into meaningful community activities catering to their psychological and social needs.
The session witnessed remarkable interaction from the participants, who engaged in a hands-on experience using clay modeling tools under the supervision of ceramic arts specialists. These experts provided simplified instructions tailored to the participants' abilities, focusing on highlighting individual skills and encouraging free artistic expression. This experience fostered a positive atmosphere and strengthened the spirit of cooperation and communication among those involved.
The Community Care Department emphasized that the significance of this activity extends beyond recreation to important psychological dimensions. Manual activities like pottery making help improve mood, reduce stress levels, stimulate memory, and enhance focus, all of which reflect positively on the general health of seniors.
Participants expressed great joy regarding the experience, praising the organization and support they received. They noted that such activities provide an opportunity to discover latent abilities and spend time in a manner that is both enjoyable and beneficial.
This workshop aligns with the vision of the Ministry of Social Development and Family to empower seniors and activate their role in society through qualitative programs that match their interests. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to launching further events and programs for this group to ensure a supportive and stimulating environment that enhances their psychological and social well-being, recognizing their expertise as a fundamental pillar of society.
