The Minister of Social Development and Family, Ms. Buthaina bint Ali Al-Jabri Al-Nuaimi, participated in the proceedings of the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development, held in Beirut from April 14 to 16, 2025. The forum, organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), drew participation from ministers and high-level officials from various Arab countries, as well as representatives from United Nations organizations, civil society, and the private sector.
The Minister's participation in this significant forum, which serves as a preparatory event for the Second World Social Summit scheduled to be held in Doha next November, underscores the State of Qatar's firm commitment to the principles of fair and inclusive development and the promotion of joint Arab action to address social and economic challenges in the region.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Minister met with HE Ms. Hanine El Sayed, Minister of Social Affairs in the Lebanese Republic. During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for bilateral cooperation and the exchange of experiences in the fields of protecting vulnerable groups, crisis response, women's empowerment, and supporting development efforts in both social and economic contexts.
Furthermore, the Minister held a meeting with HE Ms. Hind Kabawat, Minister of Social Affairs in the Syrian Arab Republic. The two parties discussed the importance of exchanging expertise in developing social policies, enhancing social protection, and promoting economic empowerment for the most vulnerable groups, thereby strengthening the Arab countries' response to shared social challenges.
This participation comes within the framework of the State of Qatar's active efforts in preparation for hosting the Second World Social Summit in Doha. The summit aims to reshape a new international vision that reaffirms the importance of the social dimension in development and promotes more inclusive, equitable, and resilient models in light of current global changes.
