MSDF Minister Lauds UN's 80-Year Legacy, Reaffirms Qatar's Commitment to Sustainable Development Goals

The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) participated in the ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (UN). The event brought together Their Excellencies the Ministers, diplomats, and representatives of international organizations.

Delivering a keynote address at the celebration, Her Excellency Ms. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family, commended the United Nations for its tireless efforts over the past eight decades in strengthening the multilateral international system, promoting human rights, and advancing sustainable development. She emphasized that the State of Qatar has long been—and remains—an active partner in supporting these global efforts through its pioneering humanitarian and development initiatives.

Her Excellency highlighted the significance of this milestone, which reflects the enduring legacy of the UN and its vital role in fostering peace, justice, and international cooperation. She reaffirmed Qatar’s unwavering commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to building robust global partnerships for a more equitable and just future.

She noted that the Ministry of Social Development and Family is translating these goals into tangible action through its national strategy (2025–2030), which focuses on empowering priority groups, strengthening family cohesion, and ensuring a dignified standard of living for all members of society.

Her Excellency also expressed the Ministry’s aspiration to deepen collaboration with the United Nations and its regional and international partners to build a more sustainable and compassionate future—one that upholds the values upon which the UN was founded eight decades ago.

In closing, Her Excellency affirmed that the celebration of the UN's 80th anniversary “represents a significant milestone to renew the collective commitment to continue working toward achieving security, peace, and development worldwide.”
