MSDF Launches "Digitally Aware Family" Campaign Under Slogan "Their Protection, Your Responsibility"

The Ministry of Social Development and Family launched the national "Digitally Aware Family" campaign under the slogan "Their Protection, Your Responsibility," with 20 national entities participating and over 120 awareness activities, from interactive workshops to the release of specialized instructional guides and educational content to support families. The campaign aims to enhance digital safety awareness, empower families to protect and guide their children toward a safe, balanced, and responsible use of modern technologies, and build their capacity to prevent risks and effectively address the challenges of the digital environment.

The campaign forms part of MSDF's effort to implement its 2025–2030 strategy under the slogan "From Care to Empowerment," contributing to family stability and cohesion, enabling family members to navigate social and technological shifts with confidence and awareness, and supporting the human and social development goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.

HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Khalifa bin Issa Al Kubaisi emphasized that launching the national campaign reflects the ministry's commitment to enabling families to adapt to digital transformations with awareness and responsibility and to capitalize on technology's opportunities. HE noted that the initiative reinforces families' capacity to protect and guide their children toward safe and responsible usage, thereby supporting family cohesion and readiness to handle rapid technological changes.

HE Al Kubaisi stated that digital safety is no longer merely a technical matter but has become a vital family and societal issue affecting child-rearing, mental health, privacy protection, and the quality of relationships within the family. Given the growing presence of digital platforms in the daily lives of children, adolescents, and youth in Qatar, their online experiences directly impact their behavior, values, and well-being. HE stressed that every family serves as the first line of defense where awareness begins, dialogue is fostered, and responsible digital behavior aligned with Qatari values and national identity is cultivated.

HE Al Kubaisi added that the objective is not to isolate children and families from technology or portray the digital world as a source of danger, but to empower them to capitalize on its opportunities confidently and responsibly. Sustainable protection cannot rely on restriction alone; it begins with awareness, grows through family dialogue, and becomes established through balanced digital habits that help young people understand risks, manage them correctly, and seek support when needed.

HE Al Kubaisi noted that the campaign is part of a broader institutional effort led by MSDF through the Digital Safety Committee for Children and Youth, which brings together relevant national entities within a joint framework. The committee evaluates digital security trends, proposes policies, guidelines, and awareness initiatives, and provides recommendations regarding stakeholder roles and responsibilities, alongside necessary legislation, resources, and technical support to provide a safe digital environment.

HE Al Kubaisi emphasized that this role unifies national efforts and helps build a more integrated ecosystem to protect children and youth, empowering families to navigate the digital realm with awareness and responsibility. HE commended the active participation of national entities and partners in organizing the campaign, emphasizing that aligning roles and unifying awareness messages maximizes the campaign's impact in creating a safer and more balanced digital environment.

The campaign primarily targets children and parents, while extending its messaging and activities to social and psychological specialists, content creators, and entities concerned with childhood, family affairs, and digital safety. It rests on three main objectives: raising awareness among children and parents about digital risks and prevention methods; instilling safe and responsible behaviors when using the internet, social media platforms, games, and digital applications; and unifying national efforts and enhancing coordination among stakeholders and partners to ensure the delivery of consistent and impactful awareness messages.

The ministry delivers the campaign's content through a three-stage awareness framework. The first phase focuses on building awareness of digital risks and unsafe content, enhancing the ability to distinguish between authentic and fake material, and instilling healthy tech habits. The second phase transitions into practical protection measures, including securing accounts, data, and privacy, strengthening parental supervision, and building a safe digital environment. The third phase emphasizes instilling responsibility, educating about rights and duties, encouraging proper reporting procedures, and knowing how to seek support.

The campaign activities address key issues in daily family digital life, including digital addiction, inappropriate content for children, in-game purchases, online exploitation, cyber extortion, cyberbullying, personal data protection, interactions with strangers online, and safe electronic gaming practices. These topics are delivered through guidance sessions for parents, visual and digital content, and meetings with specialists.

MSDF is implementing the campaign in collaboration with key national partners, including the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Ministry of Sports and Youth, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Interior, National Cyber Security Agency, Government Communications Office, Communications Regulatory Authority, Qatar University, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, Qatar Social Work Foundation and its affiliated centers—such as the Family Consulting Center (Wifaq), Social Protection and Rehabilitation Centre (Aman), Behavioral Healthcare Center (Daam), and Parent Education Center (Kanaf)—alongside Education Above All Foundation.

Coinciding with the launch, the ministry introduced the official "eSafety" website (www.esafety.qa) as a unified digital platform providing immediate access to awareness materials, specialized guides, useful links, and diverse digital content. The website provides families, parents, and youth with a practical reference to help them understand digital risks, adopt online safety practices, and access reliable information and support channels, ensuring the sustained long-term impact of the campaign.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family called on all families and community stakeholders to engage with the campaign and utilize the website's resources to transform digital safety awareness into daily practice and reinforce the collective responsibility to protect children and empower them to benefit safely and constructively from modern technology.
