MSDF concludes 7th Gulf Theater Festival for People with Disabilities
Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi has honoured the winners of 7th Gulf Theater Festival for Persons with Disabilities.
The honouring ceremony was held at Katara Opera House, in the presence of officials from MSDF, the Executive Bureau of the Council of Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs of GCC countries, and a number of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors.
The ceremony witnessed the distribution of awards to the winners, as the Bahraini play “Al-Dobi’s Trial” won first place as the best integrated work, while the Qatari play “Al-Dana” came in second place, and third place was shared between the plays “A Lifetime’s Journey” from UAE and “The Ship is Still Standing” from Oman.
The award for Best Non-Disabled Actress was shared between Fatima Al-Shorouki from Qatar for her role in the play “Al-Dana,” and Amani Al-Muqbali for the play “The Ship is Still Standing.”
Faisal Rashid won the Best Non-Disabled Actor Award for his role in the play “Al Dana,” shared with Naji Juma for his role in the play “A Lifetime’s Journey” from UAE.
As for the awards for best actresses with disabilities, Fatima Saleh secured first place for her role in the play “A Lifetime’s Journey” from UAE, followed by Maryam Dasmal Al Kuwari for “Al Dana” from Qatar, in second place, then Sarah Suleiman Al Siyabi for the play “The Ship is Still Standing” from Oman.
At the men’s level, the award for best actor with disabilities went to artist Fahad Al Baker for his role in the play “Al Dana” from Qatar, and second place went to Mohammed Rashid Al Ghafli for his role in “A Lifetime’s Journey” from the UAE, and Amir Nasser for his role in the play “The Ship Is Still Standing” from Oman.
In the Artistic Awards category, the play “The Trial of Al-Dobi” from Bahrain won the Best Set Design and Scenography Award, while the play “A Lifetime’s Journey” from the UAE won the Best Theatrical Script Award. The Best Direction Award went to Nasser Abdul Redha for the play “Al-Dana” from Qatar.
The jury presented 10 special and incentive awards, where the special awards went to the actor Abdul Aziz Saleh Al Hamri, Haya Faisal Rashid, and the actress Hamda Mohammed Rashid for their roles in the play “The Trial of Al Dobi” from Bahrain, and the actors Mubarak Al Ajmi, Abdul Rahman Imad, and Youssef Tariq Al Husseini for their participation in the play “Habel Hessa” from Kuwait.
And the actor Salman Al-Qaid for his role in the play “Deja Vu” from Saudi Arabia, and the composer Mohammed Al-Marri for his work in the play “Al-Dana” from Qatar, and Hamad Bilal Al-Shehhi for his role in the play “A Lifetime’s Journey” from UAE, and Qassim Salem Al-Riyami for his role in the play “The Ship is Still Standing” from Oman.
Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi honoured the winners of first ‘Creativity and Excellence Award for Persons with Disabilities’ in GCC countries, which was launched during the festival in Doha.
The award was given to two categories: the first category for creative individuals, which was won by Amal Touq Al-Buainain from Qatar, Ayoub Arhama Asad (Bahrain), Dr. Nasser Ali Abdullah Al-Mousa (Saudi Arabia), Waleed Saleh Al-Hashemi (Oman), Abdul Rahman Imad Al-Hamoud (Kuwait), and Hessa Mohammed Al-Mandous (UAE), in appreciation of their innovations that contributed to solutions for people with disabilities.
The second category is for entities supporting the empowerment of people with disabilities, in which the following entities were honoured: Qatar Manpower Solutions Co. (Jusour) Al-Kalima Al-Tayyiba Society (Bahrain), Abdul Qader Al-Muhaidib Charitable Foundation (Saudi Arabia), Angham Al-Huraibi Company (Kuwait), OQ Basic Industries Company (Oman), and All with People of Determination (UAE).
