
MSDF Celebrates Success of Third Annual Home-Grown Ramadan Bazaar
Under the patronage of H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family, the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) successfully concluded its third annual Home-Grown Ramadan Bazaar. Held in collaboration with the Museum of Islamic Art and with support from the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund, the six-day event at the Museum of Islamic Art Park showcased the vibrant creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of local "home-grown" project owners during the holy month of Ramadan.
The bazaar, a key annual initiative of the MSDF, aims to strengthen community partnerships and raise awareness about the importance of "home-grown" projects—small businesses and initiatives developed within the community. This year’s edition featured 22 such projects, alongside three youth-led projects and three youth initiatives, providing a vital platform for entrepreneurs to market their products and expand their reach.
A highlight of the event was the introduction of Family Day, which fostered community engagement through interactive workshops and competitions for Ministry and Museum employees and their children. The bazaar also featured a Garangao Market, preserving cultural heritage and reinforcing national identity within the spirit of Ramadan.
“The Ministry is committed to supporting and enhancing home-grown projects by providing a stimulating and sustainable environment for entrepreneurs,” said Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani, Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs. “We continuously coordinate with relevant entities to facilitate product marketing and offer all necessary support to develop these projects. We empower individuals within the community, enabling them to achieve economic independence and contribute effectively to national economic growth.”
Ms. Fatima Al Nuaimi, Director of the Family Empowerment Department, emphasized the success of Family Day in strengthening social bonds. “The participation of Ministry and Museum staff with their children created a wonderful atmosphere of community and connection,” she said.
Ms. Sheikha Nasser Al Nasr, Director of the Museum of Islamic Art, expressed her delight in hosting the bazaar. “This initiative aligns with Qatar Museums’ broader efforts to support entrepreneurs and foster a culture of sustainability,” she stated. “Our collaboration with the MSDF extends beyond the bazaar to include various programs, such as lectures, training courses, and children’s workshops, underscoring our commitment to community development and education.”
Mr. Salem Al Aswad, Deputy Director of the Museum of Islamic Art, highlighted the park as a venue, noting its popularity with visitors and the variety of activities it offers throughout the year.
The Social and Sports Activities Support Fund, a key partner in this initiative, aims to bolster social development through supporting programs such as the Home-Grown Ramadan Bazaar.
The MSDF continues collaborating with home-grown project owners and relevant private and government institutions to maximize families' social development in Qatar. Through awareness campaigns, advisory programs, and initiatives that enhance marketing and production skills, the Ministry is dedicated to serving the community and promoting its growth and stability.
