MSDF Attends GCC Session on Child Protection in the Digital World
The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), represented by its Information Systems Department, recently participated in the Gulf High-Level Session titled "Protecting Our Children in the Digital World."
The Executive Office in the Kingdom of Bahrain organized the session brought together representatives from ministries and bodies concerned with child rights across GCC countries alongside leading experts and specialists in digital safety and child protection.
During his participation, Mr. Ahmed Khalil, Director of the Information Systems Department, underscored the Kingdom of Bahrain's unwavering commitment to bolstering national and regional efforts to safeguard children from the escalating risks within the digital landscape. He highlighted that technology has become an indispensable part of children's daily lives, and the development of comprehensive policies to ensure its safe and responsible use.
The session delved into several critical areas, including digital threats children may encounter, such as cyberbullying and exploitation. Discussions also focused on the vital importance of digital awareness for parents and educators, enhancing cooperation among Gulf nations to establish robust regulatory and legislative frameworks that effectively protect children in the digital space.
MSDF seized the opportunity to showcase its leading initiatives in this crucial domain. These include dedicated awareness programs tailored for children and their families, strengthening partnerships with both governmental and private sectors to ensure the provision of safe digital content, and national efforts directed at reviewing and updating legislation pertinent to child protection.
This participation reaffirms the Ministry of Social Development and Family's steadfast commitment to supporting joint Gulf initiatives and the critical role of regional integration in safeguarding children while empowering them to utilize technology securely and positively.
