Ministry of Social Development and Family organizes a panel discussion on family issues and challenges on the sidelines of Arab Human Rights Day
On the evening of Tuesday, the 19th of this month, the Ministry of Social Development and Family, Family Affairs Sector, represented by the Family Development Department, is organizing a seminar entitled (Protecting and strengthening the family's ties)
In cooperation with the League of Arab States and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Human Rights and a group of researchers, specialists, and those interested in family affairs, from the Centre for Social Rehabilitation-Aman, the Centre for Family Consultation-Wifaq, the Family Court, and the Qatari Lawyers' Association, where the panel discussion took place at the headquarters of the Centre for Family Consultation-Wifaq.
This panel discussion takes place in light of the work of the Arab Day for Human Rights, which is held on March 16th each year, as well as the State of Qatar's interest in the Arab Charter, which protects human rights, affirms the principle of social justice, and strengthens the Charter's pillars in accordance with Qatar Vision 2030.
The workshop discusses family issues and ways to strengthen ties between family members. These discussions are aimed at creating a sound image in the minds of the attendees and participants and motivating them to build a society based on justice, that will enhance the family's cohesion and nurture its inherent values.
This episode also discusses many elements of family issues, problems, and ways to improve them, beginning with the psychological effect and progressing to the social, legal, political, and religious aspects. It is a secure and open platform for conversation and discussion about the family's different challenges, it also promotes good communication in addition to the exchange of ideas and experiences on how to develop a healthy and cohesive family. The focus of this dialogue will be on building a comprehensive and integrated understanding of family challenges and how to deal with them.
This panel discussion presents five main topics, so that researchers and those interested in family issues from the participating parties speak according to their specialization and work tasks.
The Center for Protection and Social Rehabilitation-Aman participates in the first axis, which is concerned with the principle of mental health. The Family Counselling Centre-Wifaq goes on to research social roles that shape a wide range of family issues.
The Family Court highlights the family from the lens of the law and its documents, while the Department of Human Rights of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tends to review the focus of the human rights role of individuals in achieving equality to reach a family supportive of women's rights and supportive of all the rights of their members. The Qatar Lawyers' Association also participates in presenting their experiences with the family in the courtrooms by addressing models that have sought to restore cohesion to the family and how intransigent models have contributed to the family's disintegration.
Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani, Assistant Under Secretary for Family Affairs, remarked that the family is the foundation of a society's development, and the Third National Strategy included this throughout all programmes, policies, and plans. In addition to the State's recognition of the International Year of the Family, this notion emphasizes the importance of the family and its role in societal development. The marking of Arab Human Rights Day under this phrase represents a worldwide endorsement of the family's dignity.
In a related context, Ms. Dhabiya al-Meqbali, Director of the Department of Family Development, stated: "We look forward in the Department of Family Development to strengthening family communication and supporting individuals in building family relationships that have a tangible positive impact, strengthening the bonds of cooperation and brotherhood among family members to achieve satisfaction and achieve family stability away from conflict and thorny issues."
At the conclusion of the seminar, Mrs. Dhabiya Al-Meqbali noted that this seminar comes as a continuation of a series of seminars, symposium events and activities undertaken by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, in cooperation with the relevant authorities to enhance the role of the family in society, achieve sustainable development, and move forward towards the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Family Protection Section of the Social Protection Department, is set to launch the "Gharsa Program" in collaboration with the Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. The inaugural event will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Women’s Activity Building of the Department of Da'wah, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
