The Ministry of Social Development and Family enhances family cohesion at "Malath" exhibition
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Family Development Department, participated in the awareness art exhibition "Malath". This event is organized by the Family Counseling Center (Wifaq) in collaboration with the Artist Club (Fire Station) at the Cultural Village – KATARA, building 45. The exhibition coincides with the celebration of International Family Day, which is celebrated on May 15 every year, and the event will extend until June 10, 2024.
The exhibition aims to implement and display awareness-raising artistic activities to promote the importance of family cohesion and to explain the consequences of divorce in a thoughtful and creative manner. It seeks to draw attention to reduce the negative effects of divorce on divorced parents and their children, and to strengthen the factors that help ensure successful parenting after divorce. "Malath" exhibition is considered the first awareness-raising art exhibition to promote family cohesion in the community. It provides a safe and stimulating space for a group of artists who participate with artworks, writing, painting, sculpture, photography, and visual arts, expressing their ideas, feelings, and experiences through art. Thus, the exhibition serves as a platform for artists to express themselves in diverse, inspiring, and innovative ways.
With regard to this collaboration, Ms. Dhabiya Al-Meqbali, Director of the Family Development Department, stated: "The Ministry of Social Development and Family enhances all its efforts to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 through a range of strategic plans and programs to emphasize the importance of protecting the family and family cohesion to achieve sustainable development, as the family plays a significant and influential role in the development and stability of society."
The participation of the Family Development Department focuses on enhancing family cohesion and moral values through various interactive awareness activities. One such activity is the developed Snakes and Ladders game, which aims to educate and motivate children to engage in purposeful play by interacting with various values presented through pictures and phrases. Additionally, there is an activity involving coloring phrases and drawings that contribute to reinforcing the importance of family and family cohesion. The Family Development Department, being concerned with families, women, and children, participates in such exhibitions as they are considered an effective means of spreading awareness and knowledge in an attractive and innovative way. These exhibitions provide the opportunity to convey important messages about societal issues and contribute to enhancing communication and the exchange of experiences between artists, relevant entities, and the public, thereby raising community awareness.
The word "Malath/Sanctuary" expresses the physical or moral concept that refers to comfort, safety, and protection. It also signifies a location or place (refuge). The Wifaq Center is considered a sanctuary where individuals and families can turn to during moments of stress and challenges. It is a place where they can seek support and guidance to solve problems and overcome the challenges they face during periods of separation and divorce.
In line with a series of initiatives that the Ministry has been committed to due to its significant and ongoing activities that support families and strengthen social bonds; the Ministry of Social Development and Family is a strategic partner of Qatar Museums, This collaboration contributes to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy, aiming to raise awareness of family rights and duties among all its members.
