The Ministry of Social Development and Family Concludes the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” Campaign with Broad National Participation
The Ministry of Social Development and Family concluded its annual “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, which brought together a wide range of national entities. The campaign aimed to raise public awareness, promote a culture of safety, and protect women across various environments.
This year’s edition witnessed collaboration with numerous partners. Activities included a seminar titled “Women in the Digital Age: Empowerment and Online Violence,” organized in cooperation with the Qatar Lawyers Association and other social organizations. Within academic settings, university students participated in panel discussions, exhibitions of student projects, and workshops aligned with the theme of the campaign.
The National Cybersecurity Agency also contributed through an awareness workshop titled “Protecting Women from Digital Violence,” held in partnership with Aman Centre.
The Ministry additionally produced educational materials on its digital platforms, including informative videos, online posts, and other content promoting anti-discrimination and anti-violence messages.
Parallel efforts were carried out by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, which disseminated awareness content across schools and highlighted global best practices on women’s protection. The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs also participated by dedicating Friday sermons in selected mosques to addressing the importance of respecting and safeguarding women.
The Qatar Social Work Foundation played a significant role by launching community-focused awareness initiatives through its affiliated centers. Activities included public campaigns displayed on screens across the country, social media content, behavioral awareness messages, and information packages distributed to the public. Center Aman also hosted events discussing support for working women and work-life balance, while women’s clinics and schools organized lectures and workshops on creating safe environments free from digital violence.
Ms.Nouf Ibrahim Al-Abdullah, Assistant Director of Family Development at the Ministry, emphasized that the campaign’s success reflects strong cooperation between governmental and non-governmental organizations.
She highlighted that unifying national efforts strengthens women’s rights, promotes dignity, and reinforces a social culture that rejects all forms of violence. She added that empowering women whether in real or digital spaces is a shared responsibility that requires continued commitment and community partnership.
