Minister of Social Development meets Qatar University students in a panel discussion on community issues and women's role between motherhood and professional ambition
Her Excellency Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of Social Development and Family, had a panel discussion today with Qatar University students entitled Dialogue with a Leading Personality, which comes within the framework of the You to Her events held at the University.
This advocacy is part of the Ministry's youth initiatives to promote community awareness of the most issues facing Qatari society, notably the issues of family, motherhood, socialization, and integration of the roles of men and women.
The panel discussion revolved around the leadership role of women in various fields professional ambition and motherhood, as well as a review of the experience of Her Excellency as the Minister of Social Development and Family in leadership.
Her Excellency Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad said that the most ingredient for the advancement of our society is respect for the family institution, the principles of the Islamic religion, and the complementarity between the roles of men and women.
Based on her experience, Her Excellency commented, “The most important challenge I faced during my career was balancing my role at work and my role as a mother. A Woman is essentially a leader in her home, and so anything else comes. The most important achievement any woman can achieve is her success with her children by nurturing their minds and souls.”
The discussion featured dialogues and interaction from female students attending on social issues on the local scene, with female panelists posing a question regarding people's role in supporting and empowering women in society.
The Minister of Social Development and Family replied: "Let's replace the word empowerment with integration to be integration between men and women. It is because the role of women is decisive, inherently self-imposed, and under its function in the society on which it is based as the wife, the sister, and an essential individual whose role in society cannot be abolished or diminished."
She continued: "The basic idea is how to develop the role of women and here I say that the family is the first manufacturer of successful strong women, and the integration of roles between men and women is the goal we seek to promote."
Her Excellency Ms. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of Social Development and Family, concluded her visit to Qatar University with the attendance of the accompanying Distinguished Students' Exhibition, which reviews student initiatives and community projects, and commented on her pleasure by saying: "Today's student leadership and intellectual awareness of community issues by Qatar University students demonstrate that we have won a generation of mothers and leaders capable of leading the future, God willing."
