The Minister of Social Development and Family launches Qatar CSR Summit 2023
HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, Minister of Social Development and Family, launched the Qatar Conference and Exhibition on Social Responsibility (Qatar CSR Summit 2023) on May 16th. Hosted by Qatar University which was organized under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
Among the participants at the inauguration of the summit were Qatar University President Dr Hassan Al Derham, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Sheikh Ali bin Jabor Al Thani, QNB Group Chief Business Officer Yousef Mahmoud Al Neama, and Chief Executive Officer Qatar's National Corporate Social Responsibility Program, Dr Saif Al Hajari with a massive audience including participants from ministries, government agencies, embassies, supporting enterprises, administrative and academic professionals from Qatar University, businessmen, and academics.
The Minster stated, "I am delighted to join a group of leaders in the development of social responsibility in Qatar and companies that have taken the initiative over the years to actually put social responsibility-related goals into practice, forming an exemplary model for other institutions and organizations in line with Qatar's National Vision 2030.”
Her Excellency added, “the achievement of these goals requires commitment, cooperation, and collaborative work to achieve sustainable development and well-being for citizens and residents."
Dr. Derham, in his welcoming speech, stated, “we think of social responsibility to be a vital component of our students' educational journey, and we are committed to increasing their awareness, develop their skills, and make them become more involved in social and environmental issues, as well as have a deeper comprehension of how to solve these problems.”
Sheikh Ali bin Jaber Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo, declared, “The company strongly believes in the necessity of social responsibility and sustainability and is keen on involving these values in all our activities," said Ooredoo CEO. He added, “we are committed to supporting regional gatherings like the Qatar Conference and Exhibition on Social Responsibility and to doing our part to contribute to the creation of a sustainable future in Qatar and around the world.”

Yousef Ahmed Al Kuwari, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Charity, was honored as the Social Responsibility Personality of the Year in Qatar at the event in acknowledgment of his and Qatar Charity's ongoing efforts in the areas of relief and community development.
The Minister of Social Development, who was also accompanied by Dr. Derham and Dr Siaf Al-Hajari, presented the honorary shield to Mr. Kuwari. The minister also recognized Ooredoo and Seashore groups for their contributions to the ministry's community service and development programs.
In appreciation for Ooredoo's sponsorship of the Elderly Appreciation Ceremony held during the Holy Month of Ramadan, the minister awarded Sheikh Ali with an honorary shield.
Salem Saeed Al Mahandi, Chief Executive Officer of the Seashore Group, was presented with an honorary shield by the minister in recognition of the Seashore Group's contribution to sustainable development objectives and its cooperation with the ministry to realize Qatar National Vision 2030.
