Highlighting Family Day, “Social Development” takes part in a panel discussion held at Qatar University
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Family Development Department, in collaboration with Qatar University, celebrated Family Day in Qatar, which falls on April 15th of each year, over a period of four days from April 22nd to April 25th.
This comes as part of the ministry's keenness and intensified efforts to emphasize the importance of the significant role of families in enhancing stability and family cohesion.
The ministry takes part in a panel discussion held at Qatar University on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at the (GCR-25) building, with the participation of the Doha Institute for Family Studies and several female students from Qatar University. Scientific research on families and family cohesion was presented, in addition to the presence of several academics from the university.
The participation included introducing the Family Charter, its importance, the values governing it, rights, and duties. Additionally, there was participation in a mural displayed in the (GCR) building from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, aiming to attract, inform, and raise awareness about the charter and its significance. Subsequently, individuals signed the mural, turning the charter into a guiding document for future generations to build families based on religion, justice, and benevolence. The charter will be the most important document for the local community, guiding them with high principles towards achieving family cohesion and continuing social development.
It's worth mentioning that the charter aligns with agreed-upon international goals and purposes, without infringing upon or conflicting with religion, national sovereignty, the legal framework, fair ethical systems, and human nature, upon which Qatari legislation is based, and which the society approves.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Dhabiya Al Muqbali, the Director of the Family Development Department at the Ministry, stated regarding this occasion that the family is the cornerstone and nucleus of society, and this event is a reaffirmation of the importance and value of the family, as family cohesion is the stability of society.
The Ministry celebrates Family Day in Qatar annually with the aim of promoting family and social awareness and cohesion, and reviving authentic Qatari family values, reflecting on the righteousness and development of society, and creating a cohesive and harmonious community enjoying social care in a giving and sustainable environment.
Commenting on the Family Charter, it was launched last February through the signing of a large mural in the presence of Her Excellency Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, the Minister of Social Development and Family, and several honorable ministers.
The Ministry is dedicated to achieving social development in line with the plans and strategies of the National Development 2030, and the treaties outlined by the United Nations, preserving the future of families and addressing their challenges, to bring benefit and positive impact to the State of Qatar as a whole, and to families in particular.
