"Social Development" celebrates the International Day of Non-Violence

The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Family Development Department, with the participation of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, organized awareness lectures in several schools on the International Day of Non-Violence. It aims to increase the level of awareness among individuals of the dangers of violence and its forms, as the 2nd of October of each year has been designated as a special day to celebrate this occasion to enhance knowledge and clarify the dangers and effects of violence on the individual and society.

The Ministry's participation this year comes with the cooperation of some schools in the country over a period of three days during the period from October 2 to 4, which was held at Al-Razi Preparatory School for Boys, Al-Aqsa Preparatory School for Girls, and Salah al-Din Al-Ayoubi Preparatory School for Boys. These awareness lectures were held to raise individuals’ awareness of the of violence dangers.

The lectures were presented by Sheikh Abdullah Al-Buainain, who touched on the topic of non-violence from a religious aspect, and how the biography of our Prophet Muhammad, PBUH, was full of examples that can be taken as an example. The talk was also shared by Dr. Abdullah Muhammad, who is interested in training students on ways to express themselves in more civilized ways since self-defense has several doors.

Ms. Mays Al-Amir also participated in giving a lecture and discussed the term emotion management, which is defined as the right to feel emotions, including anger, and the importance of controlling reactions and acting in a peaceful manner away from the use of violence. She relied on motor activities and games to consolidate the concept of managing emotions.

The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman) also played an important role in providing educational resources that contribute to enhancing the quality of the learning process and students’ understanding of the presented topics. The lectures were supplemented with brochures that students can benefit from to review explanatory explanations about the services the center provides to victims of violence.

The Ministry's Family Development Department looks forward to spreading awareness among individuals, specifically students, of the dangers of violence, the penalties imposed on people who commit violent acts, and finding peaceful ways to resolve conflicts, in addition to encouraging individuals to report cases of violence.

This celebration of the International Day of Non-Violence aims to understand and clarify the dangers and effects of violence on the individual and society, in addition to encouraging the adoption of the values of tolerance and respect for others, resolving conflicts peacefully, supporting the role of society in combating violence, and strengthening partnerships with relevant institutions and bodies.
