"The Prime Minister attends the inauguration of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs"
His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdelaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior attended yesterday morning the opening session of the high-level event of the forty-second session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, which is being held in Doha. It was titled "The Rights of People with Disabilities and Multidimensional Poverty: Further Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Beyond". The session, which is hosted by the State of Qatar for two days at the Doha Sheraton Hotel, is attended by the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, ministers of social affairs, and several senior officials in the fields of social development and heads of social bodies in Arab countries.
During the opening session of the conference, Her Excellency Mrs. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of Social Development and Family in Qatar, spoke. She expressed her sincere thanks to the Arab ministers and delegations participating in the conference. Her Excellency affirmed that the State of Qatar is always proud and pleased with the meeting of brothers under the banner of unity, cooperation, and solidarity. Her Excellency pointed out that Qatar believes that our unity can do a lot, accomplish social and development projects, and advance our societies, as His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, said that our unity is the source of our strength. Her Excellency pointed out that social work is the pillar of every advanced society that seeks to achieve prosperity for its children, and that we in Qatar place the human being at the center of our interests and the basis of our development movement because we believe that the real source of wealth is the human being, as he is the engine of history and the builder of civilizations, and we will spare no effort in Qatar to extend a hand of cooperation with our Arab brothers to deepen Joint work to achieve the prosperity of the Arab citizen and enhance its stability.
She said that during the World Cup, we learned that there is no impossible that deviates us from achieving our aspirations and hopes, and this historical event has inspired us to put before our eyes the goal of changing the stereotype about social work, as it is only charitable work. Her Excellency explained that this meeting seeks to overcome any obstacles or social challenges that may face groups of society, especially people with disabilities, as the government was keen to translate Qatar's pledges towards supporting the noble international efforts striving towards this goal, and stressed that eradicating poverty in all its dimensions is a priority for the Qatari efforts. Proceeding from Article VII of Qatar's permanent constitution, which emphasizes cooperation with peace-loving nations. She expressed her hope that social work will reach its fullest goal, which contributes to human prosperity and guarantees a decent life.
