MSDF receives ISO27001 certification for the third time in a row
The Ministry of Social Development and Family has received the ISO27001 certification for the third time in a row.
The certification is issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to various institutions, after applying the latest international standards in the field of management, information security and risk assessment.
Director of the Information Systems Department at MSDF Ahmed Khalil Abdullah said: “The Ministry has been keen to maintain compliance with the ISO standards in information security management (ISO27001) for the third consecutive year.”
He added: “It is the best global practice for protecting information assets and for the purpose of data and systems security and integrity amidst the increasing and developing emerging technologies used in the Ministry which in turn leads to avoiding expected security risks and working to manage and implement cybersecurity framework controls effectively in accordance with national standards and laws.”
The adoption of the ISO 27001 certification is the internationally recognized standard for information security management, as it is a globally followed model for developing, enhancing and improving the information security system.
Compliance with this standard ensures that the Ministry follows a policy of creating comprehensive security awareness and knowledge about information security, which is the protection and guarantee of the personal data of beneficiaries through the services it provides.
Working with the ISO standard (ISO27001) is evidence of the existence of ongoing mechanisms followed in the Ministry to assess the information security situation, which leads to reducing the impact of any potential security risks and ensures the continuity of the quality of systems performance.
This enhances the Ministry’s compliance with the ISO 27001 information security standard, in establishing documentation and auditing mechanisms in order to comply with and ensure compliance with the regulations and laws followed locally and globally, and to apply the best practices in this field.
This will also contribute to achieving the national vision for cybersecurity that the Ministry always seeks to implement.
