MSDF Launches Diverse Activities for Qatar Family Day

The Ministry of Social Development and Family is proud to announce a vibrant series of events in commemoration of Qatar Family Day. This significant national occasion serves as a powerful reminder of the family's pivotal role as the bedrock of our society, essential for its stability and continued progress. The celebrations aim to underscore the profound importance of familial bonds, foster stronger unity within families, and highlight the indispensable contribution of the family unit to both social and economic advancement.

Throughout the celebratory period, a diverse array of engaging activities will be offered. These include insightful awareness lectures, interactive workshops, and enriching cultural and recreational programs. These initiatives will be delivered in collaboration with various governmental and community institutions, all united in their goal to amplify public understanding of the family's significance and its central place within our community.

The heart of the Qatar Family Day festivities will take place at the Katara Cultural Village, specifically in the Wisdom Square (Al Hikma Square), commencing today, Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, at 5:00 PM and extending until Saturday, April 19th. This exciting program is being presented in partnership with the esteemed Cultural Village Foundation – Katara.

During these days of celebration, governmental bodies and community organizations will present a rich tapestry of programs designed to empower families and strengthen the bonds between their members. Attendees can look forward to practical workshops, informative lectures, captivating entertainment, and engaging interactive activities. These initiatives are carefully crafted to instill positive values within Qatari society, promote effective communication within families, and encourage the responsible and safe utilization of technology.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, a distinguished group of national entities will host interactive booths and deliver enlightening awareness and educational activities tailored for every member of the family. Furthermore, a number of local businesses and hotels are demonstrating their commitment to community initiatives by offering exclusive promotions and discounts in honor of this special occasion, promising to enhance the visitor experience and infuse the event with a truly celebratory spirit.

In a related development, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs will actively participate by dedicating the Friday sermon to the vital importance and esteemed status of the family in Islam. This initiative underscores the crucial role of religious guidance in bolstering family cohesion and disseminating ethical values throughout society, aligning seamlessly with the core objectives of Qatar Family Day.

Further enriching the program, the Family Consulting Center “Wifaq,” in collaboration with the Doha International Family Institute, will host an engaging discussion session titled "Parental Education and Safety from Electronic Risks," commencing at 9:00 AM.

Additionally, a thought-provoking lecture titled “And He placed between you love and compassion” will be delivered by the esteemed human development trainer specializing in marital relationships, Mr. Yasser Al-Hazimi, at 6:00 PM at the Katara Amphitheatre.

Ms. Dhabyia Al-Muqabali, Director of the Family Development Department at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, emphasized the significance of this event as a crucial community platform for highlighting the esteemed position and multifaceted roles of the family. She stated, "The annual celebration of Qatar Family Day provides a valuable opportunity to reinforce family unity, raise crucial awareness about the challenges faced by modern families, and empower them to effectively fulfill their developmental and social responsibilities."

She further elaborated that the diverse range of activities is strategically designed to resonate with every family member, blending enjoyment with valuable learning experiences. This approach reflects the Ministry's comprehensive vision for fostering enduring family stability within Qatari society.

Qatar Family Day, a cherished national observance held annually on April 15th, traces its origins back to the World Family Conference organized by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in 2004. This pivotal conference, commemorating the tenth anniversary of the International Year of the Family, saw a visionary call from Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser to dedicate a specific day to honoring the family. This significant date was officially adopted in 2011.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family extends a warm invitation to all members of the community to actively participate in these enriching events and take advantage of the diverse programs and activities on offer. Together, we can further cultivate a strong sense of awareness regarding the vital importance and central role of the family in our society.
