Exhibition “With My Talent, I Create My Power”

The Ministry of Social Development organizes an exhibition “With My Talent, I Create My Power” for people with disabilities

In conjunction with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Ministry of Social Development and Family, representing the Department of Community Welfare, in collaboration with the ‘Shafallah’ Centre for Persons with Disabilities and the Department of Msheirb, organized an art exhibition highlighting the creations of talented persons with disabilities entitled "My Talent Makes My Strength", December 7-9 at Galleria Mall Msheirb.

Qatar has taken effective steps to ensure the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society, in pursuit of Qatar's National Vision 2030. This initiative by the Ministry of Social Development and Family reflects the commitment to provide equal opportunities and effective participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of daily life. It is an essential part of its vision for sustainable development and social solidarity.

The aim of holding this exhibition is to highlight the talents of people with disabilities, as the exhibition includes paintings and artistic and handmade works created by people with disabilities, in addition to the accompanying recreational activities. The “With My Talent I Create My Strength” exhibition also aims to integrate people with disabilities and empower them into society, in addition to spreading awareness among community members about the importance of providing support to talented people with disabilities.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Her Excellency Sheikh Sheikha Bint Jassim Al Thani, Assistant Under-Secretary for Family Affairs, in the presence of the directors of the centres under the umbrella of the Qatar Social Work Foundation, and Mr. Ali Al Kuwari, Executive Director of Msheirb properties.

Sheikha/Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani stated: "We are proud to hold an exhibition" My talent makes my strength "which highlights the creativity and talents of persons with disabilities and seeks to integrate and empower them into society and support their diverse talents, which are an integral part of society."

Ms. Reem Al-Ajmi, Director of the Department of Community Welfare of the Ministry, stated that the exhibition reflects the high level of creativity among persons with disabilities, stressing that the holding of such exhibitions reinforces and promotes the Ministry's objectives to integrate and empower persons with disabilities among members of society by developing their skills and qualifying them.

The Department of Community Welfare seeks to build on the efforts and expertise of persons with disabilities in inclusive development, by providing training, rehabilitation, and assistance to the group of persons with disabilities and their families, according to the need and the nature of the disability.

Besides helping to recruit them by creating job opportunities for the target groups in society, that commensurate with their abilities and potentials and fruitful cooperation with the ministries, institutions and concerned authorities in the state, while training their families on how to deal with their children from this category. The administration also raises awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities in society by awareness-raising campaigns; that also conducts field studies and research to develop the services provided to them.
