Ministery of Social Development and Family discusses ways of cooperation with The United Nations
Minister of Social Development and Family HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad met with Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Catherine Russell.
The meeting came on the sidelines of the Minister of Social Development and Family’s participation in the Oslo Conference on the Protection of Children in Armed Conflict, held in the Norwegian capital.
During the meeting, they discussed the close cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and UNICEF and the opportunities and projects that would enhance this joint cooperation in the areas of social development and family, including the development of a joint action plan within the framework of a memorandum of understanding to enhance technical cooperation between the two sides. They also discussed the most prominent axes of the conference and their impact on bilateral cooperation in the international field.
HE Minister of Social Development and Family also met with UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict HE Pramila Patten.
The two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation relations and projects between the State of Qatar and the United Nations in the areas of the protection of children, especially those whose rights are violated in armed conflicts, and means to strengthen and develop them, in addition to a number of topics of common interest, particularly in the fields of technical cooperation to build capacity and strengthen social protection programs in times of crisis.

This participation reflects the State of Qatar’s active presence in international initiatives aimed at preparing future leaders.
