Home Grown’s projects conclude their participation in the Garangao Market
The Ministry of Social Development and the Family, represented by the Family Empowerment Department, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, concluded the activities of the Garangao Market from 18 to 24 March, at Darb Al-Saai in Umm Salal area.
This participation aims to preserve the popular heritage, authentic Qatari customs, and traditions, in addition to strengthening the national identity, and keeping pace with the atmosphere of the holy month. Home-Grown projects participating in Garangao Market were diverse and the products included gifts and souvenirs, fashion design, abayas, popular foods, and ceramics.
Mrs. Al-Jazi Al-Kuwari, owner of the Al-Yazi Collection project, said: “My project specializes in traditional clothing and modern abayas that preserve authenticity and suit modern life.” She added: “I present a set consisting of the abaya and a suitable dress with it, and I am also keen to present a distinguished and unique collections of fashions for all occasions, and my project includes perfumes and cosmetics, where I produced these perfumes.”
“I started my project in 2022 with the encouragement of my friends and family, who admired my taste and praised the way I coordinated fashions and abayas,” she highlighted.
Mrs. Al-Kuwari stated, “My passion for fashion design began at a young age when I used to sit next to my mother, may God have mercy on her, and help her take measurements for my sisters and I’s clothes. I learned from her how to draw the design on a pattern, take measurements, verify them, and then apply them to a beautiful piece.”
Regarding how her project, Mrs. Zahra Al-Ashr, the owner of the Al-Luqma Al-Haniyya project, stated, “My project was launched in Darb Al-Saai, and then I participated in the Popular Bearings Festival and other exhibitions such as the Kashta exhibition, and the public’s demand was great for popular foods, especially Madrooba, Harees, Luqaimat, and Rigag bread.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Social Development and Family with its departments seek to enhance cooperation between the Home-Grown owners and the concerned parties from private and governmental institutions to achieve the social development among families in the State of Qatar, as well as to benefit from the distinguished capabilities of those parties. It also helps them to develop marketing and production skills.
These activities, in addition to awareness campaigns and guidance programs, are among the Ministry's roles that are accomplished as part of the community's service and achieving its development and stability.
The Garangao Market includes (80) stores containing a variety of Garangaou supplies, popular foods, and a variety of carefully selected goods, in addition to holding various events, including Al-Masahar, and Hazawi, and several various educational workshops for children.
Garangao Market emulates the atmosphere of Al-Freej, the old Qatari neighborhood, with its distinctive designs that are in line with this special heritage occasion.
