A fund to finance productive families’ projects


The Ministry of Social Development and Family has announced 19 future projects that several of its departments are working on to enable those of working age who are beneficiaries of social security to access the labour market and provide them with suitable job opportunities. The Ministry is implementing different projects such as, the strategic “community markets” project and the Family Empowerment Fund project, as well as financing productive families, and setting up a database for them.
The projects mentioned in the State’s letter of Achievements include establishing a database for the elderly and persons with disabilities, issuing cards for the elderly and persons with disabilities based on their specializations, promulgating a law on the rights of the elderly, as well as studying challenges and strategies for moving from school to work for persons with disabilities. And the strategic project for the promotion and development of social development centers - the Pearl-Cartier Canal, as well as a proposal for a decision for mandatory pre-marital qualification. The projects and future plans also include organizing the Family Counseling Center and the “Ehtewa” project, which is a family complaint line, a guidance and counseling service, issuing a guide to associations with financial and administrative procedures, issuing rules, instructions and accounting forms, investing relations and cooperating with the offices of international organizations residing in Qatar in building the capacity of the Ministry’s employees. As well as strengthening relations and cooperation with Jordan, Germany, Norway, Australia and Singapore in transferring experiences to social protection programs, as well as strengthening relations, cooperation and transfer of experiences with UNICEF, the United Nations Development Program and the International Disability Alliance, regional and international promotion of the unified Arab classification of people with disabilities and the project of a new visual identity for home projects.
2,969 requests to benefit government housing
The Housing Department at the Ministry of Social Development and Family has received (2,969) requests from citizens to benefit from the housing system, including (2765) requests for housing with a loan, and (204) requests for housing for those in need.
According to the State’s Internal Achievements letter, the administration indicated that 1,358 requests were transferred to municipalities to issue building licenses, 1,449 requests for housing with a loan were transferred to the Land Department at the Ministry of Municipality, as well as 1,470 transactions to Qatar Development Bank, and 438 transactions were referred to the real estate registry to issue a title deed. Free, and inspecting (149) houses to determine their constructional condition, and (958) citizens benefiting from a furniture grant.
66 percent are women
19,467 Beneficiaries of Social Security
The number of social security pension beneficiaries was (19,467), of whom (12,912) were female (66%), and (6,500) were male (34%) of the total beneficiaries, and the number of beneficiaries of the allowance assistance Server (7,173) users.
According to the State’s internal achievements letter, the Ministry indicated that the beneficiaries of social security who are of working age and capable of working are being trained, to move from the state of receiving in social welfare to the state of work, and participate in national development, The plan was implemented in cooperation with the Institute of Public Administration, and two training workshops were held for women, and the number of beneficiaries reached (22), and a training workshop for men, and the number of beneficiaries reached (9), in addition to stopping the disbursement of subsidies for (264) cases of social security beneficiaries (permanent suspension) due to them joining the labour market.
Adding 138 people with disabilities to the labour market
The Ministry of Social Development and Family revealed that it received 181 job applications from persons with disabilities, in the context of consolidating and promoting all rights of persons with disabilities, especially finding suitable job opportunities for them.
The Ministry indicated in the State’s internal achievements letter that the health status of the applicants was diagnosed, and the conditions were applied to (138) applicants, and they are now waiting for the appointment procedures to be completed by the competent authority, in addition to providing social services for people with disabilities and the elderly.
541 productive families
The number of productive families registered in the databases of the Ministry of Social Development and the Family has reached (541), including 16 new productive families.
The Ministry explained in the State’s internal achievements letter that with the aim of economic empowerment of families, it has carried out field visits to periodically follow up the 6 shops of productive families in Barwa Al Wakra headquarters, and to participate in exhibitions, festivals and events held within the country, and to provide areas for marketing, promoting and displaying families’ products through electronic platforms in addition to the implementation of an electronic marketing exhibition (online boutique) to display the products and accounts of productive families through the social media accounts of the Ministry, which benefited (46) productive families. Providing marketing outlets and free shops in cooperation with a number of government agencies
