Family is the Treasure of A Nation, “Social Development” participates in the activities of National Sports Day 2024

Under the auspices of the Minister of Social Development and Family, Her Excellency Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, the Ministry held National Sports Day activities in the Green Spine in partnership with Qatar Foundation, whose facilities were allocated and equipped to receive elderly, people with disabilities, and many attendees, under the slogan: The Family is the Treasure of a Nation. The Sports Day included physical and motor activities and events suitable for all ages and groups affiliated with the centres to achieve awareness of the importance of sports and their positive role in the lives of individuals and communities.

During the events, there was a friendly match between Shafallah affiliates and veteran players in celebration of the silver jubilee of the Shafallah Center, under the slogan: Together Stronger. The players are Ahmed Khalil, Jafal Rashid, Adel Khamis, Adel Malallah, Ibrahim Khalfan, Abdel Nasser Al Obaidly, Abdel Aziz Hassan, Muhammad Ghulam, Wissam Rizq, and Jassim Al-Tamimi.

Various activities, events, and games were carried out for members of the Center of Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan) by preparing the floor to protect the participants from slipping while exercising.

Large-scale competitions included walking, football games, table tennis, archery, crossbow shooting, ground billiards, bowling, and baby foot. Other accompanying sports games were also organized for women, children, people with special needs, and the elderly, such as kids’ basketball, sports games, and the game of shooting the bell ball for the blind by members of the Al Noor Center towards the sound target. Other competitions impressed the audience and participants.

This event also witnessed the provision of healthy snacks to raise awareness of the importance of linking healthy food culture with physical activity for sustainable health. It was attended by a wide range of members of the parties participating in the celebration as a reflection of the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Almighty, to build the nation and citizens and to implement national development plans on a sound and balanced basis.

Sport is one of the main pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030. It is distinctive and unique, reflecting the wise leadership's interest in building Qatari citizens and caring for their health, intellectual, mental, and educational development. In this context, the Foundation highlights on this day that attention to sports activity and the promotion of sports culture serve our goals in forming a healthy society. It reflects the close relationship between sport and society and the positive mutual impact between them.

The Ministry is keen to strengthen family ties and develop society through sports because it is a flexible tool that all members can practice achieving community development or entertainment. It also enables children, people with disabilities, and people with limited mobility to participate, cooperate, and achieve peace and social integration among family members. It allows replacing negative practices with other positive and healthy habits, such as sports, which strengthen the bonds of society and family.

On this occasion, Mrs. Al-Jazi Al Enazi, head of the communications team at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, stated that the participation of the Ministry and its social centres in this Day activities comes from their firm belief in the importance of the role that sports plays in contributing to building an active and healthy society that develops the capabilities of individuals.

She noted that sports enable children with disabilities and limited mobility to integrate socially. She said that the activities are held in partnership with the Qatar Foundation through social centres such as Ehsan Center, Shafallah Center, and Al Noor Center, as these centres were given an area equipped with the facilities needed by the elderly and people with disabilities, which is a group that is dear to our hearts, and which we must integrate into society and in such events and activities.

She added that with these activities, we aim to focus on the role of sport in the field of sustainable development, which will develop society in all fields and levels, and to pay attention to the safety of individuals and families to lead a healthy, healthy life free of diseases, in a way that contributes to the renaissance of the nation and building a society whose members are strong and healthy.

Regarding the partnership with Qatar Foundation, she stressed that this cooperation enhances the social and sports field, which achieves the vision and mission of the Ministry of Social Development and Family, which stipulates the empowerment of community members.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family seeks to promote its activities and events for national productive projects Home Grown, selling its products in the Education City, and raising awareness of the slogan: The family is the Treasure of a homeland. Family is considered a national wealth because of its vital role in building society and consolidating values, customs, and traditions for generations, in line with Qatar Vision 2030 and accordance with the principles of comprehensive development, especially since the State of Qatar is a leader in the sports field in the world and focuses on the impact of sports in the field of sustainable development, which will develop society in all aspects and levels, and concern for the safety of individuals at all levels: education, health, economy and culture.
