MSDF educates school students about importance of family cohesion
The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) in cooperation with the Family Counseling Center – Wifaq implemented several awareness tours in schools to enhance the value of family cohesion and compassion, as part of the ‘Promoting Values’ initiative.
This is within the framework of the awareness campaign for the International Year of the Family themed ‘Family is the Treasure of a Nation’, which is organised by MSDF, represented by the Family Development Department.
Awareness workshops were held at Taiba Elementary School, Hafsa Preparatory School and Al Bayan Secondary School.
These workshops, which targeted students, included an explanation of the importance of the campaign and its goal of promoting the value of compassion, especially among family members.
The workshops also included a set of important topics for instilling this value in students, the most important of which are: the importance of compassion among family members, clarifying the importance of the family and the importance of its members’ cohesion through religion, values and good morals, forms of compassion among family members, the role of compassion in facing family challenges.
This is in addition to ways and methods of enhancing the spirit of compassion among family members. These workshops witnessed distinguished interaction and participation from students in the activities presented, which contributed to achieving their desired goals.
The campaign will continue to provide awareness workshops to another group of schools for enhancing family cohesion, strengthening cooperation between state entities to spread the culture of integrating roles, and promoting various values, especially the value of compassion, due to its positive repercussions on the family and society.
Values are a fundamental pillar for building a strong and cohesive society. They are the single fabric that connects its members to each other. Values work to enhance social cohesion and strengthen the ties between members of society.
Several key and active parties are participating in the campaign, namely the Family Counseling Center - Wifaq, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the Ministry of Interior, where efforts are combined to support the campaign, by holding workshops to raise awareness of the importance of strengthening the value of family cohesion and compassion in family relationships.
This cooperation comes as an affirmation of the importance and necessity of working to enhance ‘family cohesion’ as an important factor in enhancing family stability and sustainability and strengthening the bond between family members throughout the family’s life cycle, in unifying the family, and for its important role in achieving loyalty, compassion, sympathy and affection among family members.
The campaign ‘Family is The Treasure of a Nation’ was launched with the announcement of Qatar hosting the International Year of the Family, which will be held from October 29 to 31 this year. Qatar will host an international conference to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family.
