MSDF develops talents of the elderly of Ehsan center
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Community Care Department, in cooperation with the Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan), held decoupage art workshops for elderly women in Ehsan centers.
Decoupage is a creative technique used to decorate various objects by cutting out pictures from various papers or napkins and applying them with glue in layers onto an object.
These workshops aimed at integrating the elderly in society and enhancing their contributions to social and economic development.
It provided trainees with the necessary skills and benefit from the craft of decoupage art personally if the trainees wish to implement a project of his own.
The workshops were presented by Khadija Ali Al-Maliki, Social Programs Expert and Moza Jassim Al-Mansouri, Productive Families Training Expert from the MSDF.
As many as 70 elderly people affiliated with Ehsan Elderly Empowerment and Care Centers operating in Azghwa, Al Matar and Al Shamal branches benefited from these workshops.
The participants learned how to make a marble cup base using the art of decoupage, by using pieces of marble to create beautiful home decor in a unique way, using paper for handicrafts.
Umm Saleh, a member of Ehsan Center, said: “The decoupage workshop was a wonderful workshop where we learned new and useful things, and the trainer’s explanation was clear.”
For her part, Safia Al-Shaib, a member of the Ehsan Center, said: “I loved this art workshop. Participating in it was an enjoyable, interesting, and fruitful experience at the same time.”
Decoupage is a decorative art where a specific type of paper is used to create distinctive artistic paintings. Decoupage is an easy art, as it is possible to use simple materials to produce beautiful artistic paintings and obtain a piece of furniture with a renewed and wonderful appearance, as this art gives an artistic appearance similar to handcrafted works, and it can be applied to many different surfaces such as: wood, pots, or pottery.
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Community Care Department, seeks to develop and implement the necessary programs and services to care for and rehabilitate the elderly, in cooperation with relevant governmental and non-governmental agencies.

Director of the Planning, Quality, and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), Hamad Saud Al Henzab, participated in a session titled "Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Social Impact: Towards a Collective Charter for Responsible Digital Transformation." The session was organized by the Executive Office in partnership with the Ministry of Community Development in the United Arab Emirates, as part of the proceedings of the Second World Summit for Social Development.
