The Ministry of Social Development and Family organizes skill-focused training workshops for the members of (Ehsan) Center
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Family Empowerment Department, concluded the training workshops for the members of the Empowerment and Care Center for the Elderly (Ehsan) which was organized from May 5 to June 9 of 2024, at the center's headquarters in the Northern City.
These training workshops aim to enhance recognition of the role and contributions of the elderly in the social, economic, and cultural development of the country, empower the members of Ehsan Center and support their outstanding participation in various fields, raise social awareness about the fundamental rights and issues of the elderly, as well as promoting intergenerational communication and emphasizing the role of families in their care.
The skill-focused training workshops were presented by Mrs Khadija Ali Al-Maliki, training expert in the Family Empowerment Department at the Ministry, and Mrs Moza Al-Mansouri, training expert in the Family Empowerment Department at the Ministry.
The workshops provided for the elderly at Ehsan Center included a variety of activities, such as: making hospitality trays or scent, using ‘transfer technique’ for transferring and printing images onto another surface, decorating magnetic pieces, building wooden huts, and decorating with paint brushes.
Moreover, the members of ‘Ehsan Center’ were trained during these skill-focused training workshops to create simple home decorations using materials that are easy to obtain from the Qatar environment. The trainers in these workshops utilized recycling materials available at home on their presentation such as wood, paper, cardboard pieces, and others to produce unique handmade artistic pieces.
Mrs. Fatima Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, Director of the Family Empowerment Department at the Ministry, stated that: "we are pleased with this collaboration with the Empowerment and Care Center for the Elderly (Ehsan) to provide skill-focused training workshops for the elderly, whom we value and commend for their role in the family and society as a whole. They are the foundation and the solid, giving pillars of the family."
The Ministry of Social Development and Family aims through this collaboration, to implement a number of outstanding future training programs for the members of Ehsan Center. It is worth noting that these programs support the Qatar National Vision 2030 by achieving sustainable social development, in addition to enhancing the role of social care.
